Beneficiary Stories

Natasha

Natasha

Most people look back at their childhood and smile. But not Natasha.

Because doing so means revisiting a traumatic past where her grandfather and three cousins sexually abused her. Although she told her family about these incidents, no one believed her. Natasha was only five when she was abused. Despite having to endure the trauma and multiple episodes of self-harm for more than a decade, she ultimately emerged from it with a sense of purpose thanks to the efforts of the HCSA Dayspring Residential Treatment Centre. Today, she considers herself a trauma survivor. But she doesn’t just want to survive.

She wants to thrive.

Dorothy

Dorothy

Did you know that many of the girls that the Dayspring Residential Treatment Centre (DRTC) have helped over the years now work in roles that allow them to pay it forward in society?

One such unsung hero is Dorothy, who once struggled with the trauma brought upon by physical and sexual abuse.

What does she do now? She helps saves life as a paramedic.

We’re super proud of you Dorothy!

Mdm Tan

Mdm Tan

After leaving her husband due to irreconcilable differences, Mdm Tan had no choice but to work three jobs in a day just to provide for her four children. When everything became a little too much to bear, HCSA Dayspring SPIN nudged her back on her feet with a little emotional and psychological support.

Although her life is now more stable than before, it certainly isn’t one filled with excesses. Despite not having much, this incredible woman has nevertheless decided to take the child of a troubled acquaintance under her wing so that he can receive the necessary parental love and care.

Nathelie

Nathelie

Nathelie Ong is a shining, inspiring example of how even those in need can also help others.

A single mother of two boys, Nathelie has been receiving support from Dayspring SPIN since 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic proved a little too challenging for the family.

After receiving emotional and practical assistance in the form of meals, clothing, household items and tuition for the kids, Nathelie can now better focus on her job as a welfare officer at non-profit organisation Free Food For All.
